R2. MX Nationals - Monster Mountain - 4th June 2023

MX NATIONALS – R2 – MONSTER MOUNTAIN – 4th JUNE 2023 

The second round of the MX Nationals sent the team to Monster Mountain; a new track that saw us travel through the valleys of South Wales and - quite literally - to the top of a mountain. 

  

JAKE MILLWARD: 

 

Jake would sit this round out as he is still recovering from his injury at Blaxhall. We will hopefully have more news on his ongoing recovery very soon.

 

BAILEY JOHNSTON: 

 

QUALIFICATION: 

Bailey struggled at first to find his flow, but soon managed to do so putting a quick time on the board which would leave him in eighth place. He struggled to improve on this time, and this is where he would be at the finish.

 

MX2 RACE 1: 

Bailey didn’t get the best of starts and found himself in the middle of the pack. He soon found his rhythm and managed to move back up into the top ten. A small tumble saw him drop back a few places but he was able to recover well to take the flag in tenth spot.

 

MX2 RACE 2: 

Bailey didn’t get a great start in race two either, seeing him round the opening turn towards the back of the pack. Finding more of a flow than in race one, he managed to move himself up to eighth place which is where he would finish despite pushing hard in the closing stages to try and make up further places.

 

OVERALL:

P10-P8 for eighth overall. Unfortunately, Bailey lost the red plate this weekend but still sits second in the championship, just one point behind the leader.

I’m really disappointed in myself today. I’ve been working so hard on my hard pack training recently and it didn't go to plan in the races.

It was great to head to a new venue for the MX Nationals this weekend. Not the weekend we wanted results wise, but we will keep working hard to get to where we should be.
