MIXED WEEKEND AT ROUND 5 OF THE BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS

REVO BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS – R5 – BLAXHALL – 19th JUNE 2022

Round 5 of the Revo British Championship saw the team travel across the country to Blaxhall, Suffolk; always a favourite on the calendar with the Woodbridge club always putting on a great event. This weekend saw Bailey return from injury and it was great to have him back under the awning. With the storm overnight on Saturday, the track was in perfect condition for Sundays race day.

PRO MX1:

JAKE MILLWARD:

QUALIFICATION:

Jake soon got in the flow and found a clear spot to go for his first quick lap of the session, a little off the pace putting himself in 12th place. As the session went on Jake struggled to improve on this time until his last attempt where he managed to move up to ninth place. This is where he would finish at the end of the session.

MX1 RACE 1:

A fantastic jump out of the gate for Jake saw him neck and neck with Kullas coming around the first turn. Kullas just got his wheel ahead taking the holeshot putting Jake in second place on the first lap. Jake struggled to find flow around the track which saw him drop back down the pack to seventh place. In the latter stages on the race Jake started to find a little rhythm which moved him up to sixth place at the chequered flag.

MX1 RACE 2:

Another great start from Jake saw him exit the first turn in fourth place. As in race one, Jake struggled to find his flow with the track and started dropping off the pace and found himself down in tenth place. As the race moved on Jake managed to move up to ninth place, this is where he would place at the finish.

OVERALL:

P6-P9 = P7 Overall. A tough day for Jake but managed to score some points towards the championship, where he now sits in seventh place.

PRO MX2:

BAILEY JOHNSTON:

QUALIFICATION:

Bailey struggled a little in qualification to find his rhythm on the fast flowing circuit.  Bailey’s second lap of qualification was his fastest, which saw him in 26th place at the finish.

MX2 RACE 1:

A great jump out the gate in race one for Bailey, but he didn’t manage to keep the momentum round the first turn meaning starting the race right at the back of the pack. Bailey soon got his head down and started moving through the pack. By the midpoint of the race he found himself in 25th place. With great determination, Bailey pushed all the way to the finish moving up to 21st at the chequered flag.

MX2 RACE 2:

Another fantastic jump out of the gate saw Bailey heading for the holeshot but unfortunately another rider went straight into the side of him sending him off course. At the end of lap one, Bailey was down in 25th position. Finding his rhythm and pushing all the way to the end he managed to make a few passes and found himself in 19th place at the finish.

OVERALL:

P21-P19 = P23 Overall. A solid day for Bailey on his first race back from injury. Showing great determination and good speed working his way through the field.

QUOTE FROM TEAM MANAGER, ADRIAN KIRK:

Up and down weekend for the team. Great to have Bailey back from injury and looking forward to see him get stronger and stronger over the coming weeks.
