Based in the heart of Wigan, Wigan Cricket Club has been a longstanding part of the local cricket community for over 175 years. The club’s senior teams compete in the prestigious Liverpool & District Cricket Competition, offering players a competitive environment in which to develop and enjoy the game.

Courtesy of Verde Cricket and the expert installation team at Cover Solutions, Wigan Cricket Club has completed the installation of a new three-lane, fully enclosed cricket practice facility, providing a high-quality training environment for players of all levels.

The 37-metre facility features a combination of our ECB-approved Test Match System and Premier System, providing two high-performance surfaces designed to offer different playing characteristics and training experiences. The facility has been designed and installed to provide consistent, durable playing surfaces, supporting individual player development, team preparation and continued player participation throughout the season.

The facility is fully enclosed and incorporates a built-in white mesh netting system, positioned behind the bowler’s arm to act as a sight screen. This provides batters with a clear, consistent background while maintaining the fully enclosed nature of the practice facility.

The Test Match System features an an AP10 shockpad and provides a premium playing surface within the facility, giving players the opportunity to train across different surface characteristics and replicate a range of playing conditions.

The Premier System incorporates an additional Premier shockpad to increase bounce while enhancing player comfort and impact absorption. The system provides a high-quality playing surface designed to deliver consistent performance and durability throughout the season.

Adding to the facility’s distinctive appearance is a striking black and tan carpet, marking the first time Verde Sports has used this colour combination on one of its cricket facilities. The bold contrast gives the three lanes a modern, premium appearance while clearly defining the individual practice areas.

The completed facility provides Wigan Cricket Club with a modern, versatile and purpose-built training environment, combining high-performance playing surfaces with a distinctive design that sets the facility apart.
