Nestled on the Cambridgeshire–Essex border, Ickleton Cricket Club is a quintessential English village club, rooted in community, tradition, and a shared love of the game. The installation features Verde’s ECB-approved Test Match system, engineered to replicate the natural variation of playing conditions across a cricket season. This gives players realistic, match-ready preparation—enhancing performance, confidence, and consistency at the weekend. Each bay features an 11.00m x 2.74m Superverde batting end and an 8.00m x 2.74m AP10 Shockpad bowling end, with the bowling ends constructed over stone and hard porous bases.

A practical access solution was also incorporated into the front of the practice cage, with integrated mesh gates providing secure and convenient entry to each individual cricket bay. The gates form a seamless part of the heavy-duty cage structure, matching the surrounding galvanised steel framework and netting while maintaining the enclosed nature of the facility. The integrated design provides a clean, robust finish and ensures the practice area remains secure and well contained while not being used.

The project presented some challenges during installation, particularly around achieving the required levels across the site. However, through hard work, careful attention to detail, and clear, effective communication between the club and Verde’s installation team, these challenges were successfully worked through. The result is a seamless, premium-quality finish that meets the highest performance and durability standards.

Visually, the facility makes a strong statement. The distinctive tan and olive surface combination not only enhances the aesthetic of the ground but also reflects the professional standard of the installation.
